It’s finally spring, it’s great to see May on the calendar! It feels like so long ago on a dreary wintry day that we planned a spring Mothers Day event at Nest Inspired Home, it’s become a tradition to welcome the warmer months with new artworks. This season we will highlight the works of photographer Allyson Monson and painter Kim Romero. Both artists share a love of texture and color, a culmination of years of experience in various forms of art and design, but their medium and artworks are very different. They are each introducing new works at Nest, here is a highlight and some ideas to bring a spring and summer freshness to any home.

Celebrate Love with Art // Shades of Pink

Pink is soft and feminine, but it’s also a strong color that makes a visual statement. There’s a lot of pink in the air now, from fashion, to fabrics to interiors. My previous Valentine’s blogs and picks in artworks have focused on reds, the color usually associated with love and passion. But, pink represents caring, compassion and understanding, as well as love. The sentiment feels right for now. It's a warm, beautiful color - flattering, to skin, to furnishings and interiors. For those who exchange gifts on Valentine’s Day or want to give themselves a mid-winter treat, consider a piece of artwork that will brighten any grey wintry day!

Celebrating with Art // 5 Years Together

Time flies! It feels like a few months ago that a girlfriend suggested I stop in to the beautiful new home store that just opened in Rye and meet the owners. I did, and since then, almost 5 years ago, we have worked together. Aly Drew and Bets Miller have been great partners, they have a fabulous store, and a terrific venue to showcase Romanoff Elements artwork to compliment their array of home decor products. I’m happy to be part of their anniversary party to celebrate 5 years but more than that, I want to thank them both for welcoming me and the re:artists into their “nest”. Congrats to Bets, Aly and and their team at Nest Inspired Home!

Romanoff Elements has been busy in the past few years. In that time we have provided artworks for many clients, we have continued to expand the artists we work with, and we seriously outgrew our website. I am thrilled that the new re: site has launched, and we can finally stop saying that it’s a “work in progress”.

It's March, it’s still winter but the light has changed, and that feels good, the mornings are brighter, and the days are longer. The color white is about light, there is no absolute white, there are the many shades that reflect what is around it. This time of year, the reference to “winter white” is to a warm color, whether in fashion, or home or art, the yellow undertones feel cozy and at the same time fresh, just like the March light. Cool whites have a touch of blue, and there are many shades in between. The beauty of white is that it’s uplifting, it’s literally lighter than the heavy tones we are accustomed to all winter. The beauty of having white in artworks around you, is that it brings that lightness home...

Artist Kerri Rosenthal is all about happy - and about sharing the exuberance she feels about color through her art. I’m happy to be working with Kerri this Valentine’s Day season to share the love that her Drippy Heart paintings are all about. Kerri has been painting hearts for several years, she felt it was time to make them more accessible and available, and has introduced a collection of three of her Drippy's as limited edition prints...

As the year ends, we are reflecting on the busy year we had at Romanoff Elements. A highlight that comes along with working on different projects are the people we have met along the way, and the friends we have made. We’re grateful for both our clients and the many artists we work with. As we start the holiday season, we want to wish you well and have you join us to recap some of our projects and installations from the past year. Our work is about finding the right artworks for our clients, bringing them together with the talent and creativity of RE artists to complete the beautiful spaces in their homes and offices.
